Miniature House: the Book Store Kit from Crafts & Co

Following the massive arrival of Crafts & Co miniature house kits at Action supermarkets, there are now plenty of brand-new kits on Vinted from people who thought they could make them but changed their minds. I managed to get my hands on the Book Store kit for €9 (+ shipping). After my Japanese miniature kit, this one feels simpler because the instructions are in English and well illustrated.

I’m really happy when the kit includes real wood. This one isn’t painted, so you have to make do with the small paint pots and brush provided, but they’re really poor quality.

As you can see, even after several coats, the white isn’t really white. This uneven effect is cool for an old house or for walls, but for modern furniture, not so much. On Facebook groups, most hobbyists tend to go with acrylic brush pens instead.

The “bookshelf” part with all the tiny books is my favorite. Some books are made in blocks, others one by one, but I enjoy making books much more than making plants. I swear I’ll never make the mistake of building a miniature flower shop again 😀

And here’s the final result. As for the lighting, connecting the wires of the two “lamps” wasn’t too hard because they clearly indicate the wire colors and numbers to pair. But I still struggled for a good 20 minutes… because I didn’t insert the batteries properly… until I noticed the + and – on the LED box, and then it worked! What a relief!

For comparison, you can see the scale seems to match my Japanese miniature house.

I really enjoyed it! For €9 I had a lot of fun and now I have a house with built-in LED lighting — what more could you ask for?

I recommend buying on Vinted or at Action, it’ll be cheaper.
