The warmer days are back and I’m taking the opportunity to buy a few summer clothes in advance. In summer, I mainly wear dresses but they’re not practical for sports activities, so I figured I needed a few more shorts. I only have one pair of Levi’s shorts that I bought on my very first trip to New York. I added to that a cotton shorts from Vanessa Bruno, and then a very wide silk shorts (shorts-skirt) from Pablo.

The Vanessa Bruno shorts particularly appeal to me because the finishing is worthy of tailored trousers. Even the zip is metal.

As for the Pablo shorts, they’re overlocked all over the place and I’m worried they won’t last more than 3 seasons. Either way, both pairs were found on Vinted for under €15.
Now let’s move on to a dress by the brand From Future, 100% silk (silk crêpe). I didn’t need yet another dress but I fell in love with it, and when I tried it on and posted the photo on Instagram, several people complimented me — it looks like it was made to measure. I love it! The finishing is superb, everything is done in French seams, which guarantees durability for this kind of fabric. Note that this same fabric and print exists in several styles at From Future — you should buy the long version with buttons (not the tie-string one). I paid €45 for it on Vinted.

I’ve already told you about these Forte Forte silk trousers (94% silk, 6% elastane) — I had them shortened by a tailor as they were extremely long. What I really appreciate are brands that size their clothes accurately. I hate having to alter clothes, especially when I buy an XS and end up with something that fits like a M. It costs money and time. Here, it’s perfect — the right size, just the hem to redo. I paid €50 on Vinted.

I also bought a pair of mules from JONAK (EUGENE). I find the leather quality isn’t that great, and the insole is faux leather on top of that, but they are incredibly comfortable and give me an extra 7.5cm. They retail at €115 but I managed to find discounts here and there and got them for €90.

I found some Comptoir des Cotonniers silk tops to wear with my shorts. A long time ago, someone gave me a similar silk top. It was my favourite summer top. I stained it and had no idea where to buy a replacement. Thank goodness the second-hand market exists. I paid between €10 and €15 for these 100% silk tops (silk crêpe). They’re a little sheer, which is why I also bought nude bras. They look simple but they’re beautifully cut — I loooove them!

When it gets really too hot, I tend to wear long sleeves to protect myself from the sun. I picked up a shirt from Uniqlo’s Premium Linen collection. I now wear a XXS there, which is ridiculous! You really need to try things on in store because you never know what size you are anymore — it keeps changing! Their linen is a bit thin and creases a lot, but the colours are great, especially this navy blue! (€49.90)

Finally, I bought a La Perla bikini. Brand new on Vinted. It’s hard to find a matching set in my size because the brand sells the top and bottom separately, so I had to find a set that matched my size exactly. Needless to say there was only one! 😀 I paid €23 for it. The top is padded but very lightly, so it doesn’t create a push-up effect — and that’s exactly what I look for in a good swimsuit.

I got a bikini top from Etam to replace my current one. I had to go several sizes up from my usual size. I’m not sure what happened at Etam but their bikinis are cut extremely high now — they’re using less and less fabric. So I strongly recommend trying them on in store, otherwise you risk ending up with a piece that’s way too small. €29.99.

All these clothes go well together and can be worn as a complete wardrobe. Like a capsule. In winter, when I like something, I buy two of them (or similar pieces) so I always have something to wear while the other is drying; but in summer, I sweat a lot and change often, so I usually have three of each.
For an active summer, you should add a pair of trousers for boat trips, with UV protection… I already have them — the Saturday Trail from Columbia that I bought several years ago and still love just as much.
