[leathercraft] My first leather handbag

Today, I am going to present to you my very first handbag, made entirely by myself.

The exterior leather is made of bull calf. The straps are made of veal leather, barenil, (or barenia) and the interior is lined with goat leather.

Since my workspace is small, it took me almost a month to complete this project. In the end, my fingers hurt a lot because it was the first time I sewed that much 😀

I opted for a simple magnetic closure since it is my first bag. The lining is gold because I like a touch of luxury, and I really enjoy light-colored linings to see the contents of the bag clearly.

Ideally, it would have an additional zipper to protect the content of the bag. I gave it to my sister who uses it daily and does not complain about the lack of zipper. Here is the finished bag. You can see that there is an interior pocket. This pocket is lined with swift leather (not visible) for a pleasant texture every time my sister searches for something in this small pocket. You can see that I lined my bag quite well with extra layers because it maintains its rounded shape even when empty. I am very, very happy with this first bag. There are plenty of details to improve, but it’s just the beginning.
